The Cyclones led by as many as 18 points in the second half before Memphis closed within six.

It was Iowa State’s third straight win in this series.

The Cyclones held an early 14-2 lead, thanks in part to a couple of 3-pointers by Terry Brown and a dunk by Bruce Weber.

A few missed 3s hurt the Cyclones during a stretch of nearly four minutes between the first and second quarters. Iowa State led 28-21 at the break, when Harrell had nine points.
