At this year’s Oscar-winning actress Glenn Close got a little help from Oprah Winfrey after her win at the Oscars when the talk show diva tracked down the now Oscar-winning actress and asked her to appear on the show.
The movie star and the talk show titan are doing a new Netflix series together called “Most Oprah Moments.”
But Winfrey, who showed up on Close’s red carpet at this year’s Oscars to read a poem, now has an even bigger pop star in her guest book.
The queen of talk said she thinks Britney Spears is an “incredible, amazing” artist. Winfrey said she had emailed Spears and invited her to appear on the show but the pop star decided she has no such plans at this time.
This is interesting because if you want more Britney Spears talk, check out the Huffington Post interview she did with Ryan Seacrest that took place a couple of days before the Oscars and was posted on Twitter, on Oscar night.
She spent time with Oprah, displaying her knowledge of movies and her appetite for gossip.
But according to the New York Post, on the day of the Oscars, and after the Post questioned Winfrey whether she had an appetite for controversy, Winfrey responded, “Do you want to know anything else? No.”
Winfrey commented on the fact that “probably neither of us thought she’d win the Oscar,” but happily discussed her plan to divorce Martin Scorsese from her good friend and producer Harvey Weinstein.
Oprah told the Post, “At the beginning of this year, I got a call saying, ‘Oprah, do you have any idea what Harvey Weinstein is up to?’ I said, ‘I don’t. I said, ‘Harvey, are you trying to do what you’re trying to do?’ He said, ‘I don’t even know what I’m doing!’”
Obviously, that did not stop Winfrey. She went on to reveal she tried to get more money for “The Color Purple,” she produced the movie with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and its director, Steven Spielberg.
“We all did it together. I don’t know who else [else] got a slice,” she said. “But Harvey got his slice in the end.”
Then she made a secret admission.
“Steven Spielberg went back and forth two times with Harvey Weinstein, and Steven bought him his piece. But the deal at the end was: Harvey gets his own production company and Steven gets a lot of his money back, and Steven gets a lot of the people he’s working with back.”
Oprah then explained why she is not on Twitter and why she has such a low opinion of the microblogging site, and she confirmed reports that she is divorcing her husband of 25 years.
However, she did clear the air on reports that her marriage to the TV titan was “very amicable.”
“It’s not really amicable,” she said of their split. “It was a difficult time.”
Winfrey confessed that she did not change her tune during her divorce.
“The reality is, on the other side of that, you have someone you love and you thought you loved and it turns out to not be,” she said.
She went on to explain that she had also decided, as in the case of her father’s infidelity, to avoid the drama of an “open marriage” by signing up for sex therapy and going to group therapy with other couples.
It didn’t come naturally, Winfrey admitted.
“I’ve never, ever gone through this before,” she said. “I wanted my marriage to work. I wanted to be a great wife.”
The first season of “Most Oprah Moments” is available on Netflix, and will continue to air periodically on Netflix, Winfrey and Close will premiere additional programs.
